We spoke to Ivan Simspon-Kent about what he, as an African American, believes about the #BlackLivesMatter movement and systemic racism in the U.S.
Ivan Simpson-Kent is a third-year Ph.D. candidate studying developmental cognitive neuroscience at the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on studying how intelligence arises in the brains of children and adolescents in hopes that understanding these processes may improve outcomes in children who struggle to learn at school.
He shares his thoughts and opinions on #BLM, explains to us how systemic racism permeates social structures and processes in the U.S and how his experience of racism in the U.S differs in the U.K. Ivan gives insight into the American justice system and whether active, sustainable change can be achieved via the current protests.
